Holmes County Common Pleas Court
NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING 

POSITION TITLE: Probation Officer


The Holmes County Common Pleas Court is seeking resumes and applications for a full-time Probation Officer. The primary duties will be to supervise a specialized case load of Intensive Supervision Probationers (ISP) and conduct pre-sentence investigation reports. This position requires skills in the area of organization, excellent record keeping and data entry within probation data base, writing, communication, knowledge of the criminal justice system.


The Probation officer will be called upon to monitor and document offenders’ supervision progress, conduct home visits and encounter the offender in the field, enforce offenders’ compliance with court orders, conduct pre-sentence investigations, investigate and verify information provided by offenders when appropriate, conduct ORAS assessments, prepare written probation violation reports to be submitted to the presiding Judges of the Common Pleas and Municipal Courts, conduct drug screens, transport offenders to correctional and/or treatment facilities, submit written reports to the Courts and testify at various court hearings, and other duties that may be required.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, human services, or related field. Experience in probation, social work, or law enforcement is preferred, but not required. Applicants will be required to possess proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, be able to pass a drug screen, a psychological evaluation, and will be subject to a background check. Candidates will be required to complete OPOTA certification to carry a firearm, as well as attend Probation Officers training academy through the Supreme Court of Ohio.

STARK COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS 

NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING 

POSITION TITLE: COURT REPORTER 

The Court of Common Pleas, General Division, is seeking an individual to serve as a Court Reporter. Under the direct supervision of the Court Administrator and Deputy Court Administrator, this position will be responsible for recording verbatim notes of Court proceedings and hearings, and for providing accurate transcripts of these notes as required. Starting salary of $52,000 supplemented by transcript fees and step-ups for certifications. FTR Gold recording system provided to supplement transcript preparation. Equipment provided. 


Qualifications: Must possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and diploma. Must have a certificate of successful completion from a court reporting school. Must have courtroom and/or freelance experience as a Court Reporter. Registered Professional Reporter certification is highly preferred. Real-Time writing is highly preferred.

STARK COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS

NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING

POSITION TITLE: REENTRY PROGRAM SPECIALIST

The Court of Common Pleas, General Division, is seeking an individual to serve as the Reentry Program Specialist for the Reentry Court. Under the direct supervision of the Reentry Court Director and the general supervision of the Deputy Court Administrator, this position will be responsible for identifying and coordinating services for individuals who are returning from Ohio institutions. Other duties include: administering risk assessments, performing program intakes, maintenance of accurate records and statistical data, submission of reports as required, working in collaboration with the Court, Probation Officers and community service providers as a part of a treatment team for the Reentry Court participants. 

 

Qualifications: Must possess an Associate degree or equivalent education and experience. Must possess at least one (1) years experience in criminal justice or social services.

 

Unusual working conditions: does require work in high-risk areas and/or high-risk situations.

Lorain County Domestic Relations Court

NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING

POSITION TITLE: Superintendent of Detention

Assists in the daily operations of a secure youth detention facility with capacity for forty-four (44) juvenile offenders, up to the age of 21. Provides administrative and supervisory support to the Director of Residential Services in the management of a safe, healthy, and secure environment for youth, staff, agency staff, and volunteers. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.


Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of direct supervisory experience preferred. Extensive or comprehensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, which must include five (5) years of supervisory experience in corrections, law enforcement, or related profession. Ability to communicate appropriately with youth, staff, service providers, and the public. Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of insurance. Must be eligible to drive under the county commissioner’s Driver/ Vehicle Risk Reduction Program Mandatory drug/alcohol screening, criminal history check, and Diana Screening.
