ONLINE COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) are excited to announce that the Ohio Probation Officer Training Program online courses are now available.

The online courses are part of a blended learning curriculum created as a result of House Bill 86, through the collaborative efforts of the Supreme Court of Ohio, ODRC, and representatives of the Ohio Chief Probation Officers Association.

While the courses are mandatory for Probation Officers hired after January 1, 2014, all Probation Officers will find the information in these lessons valuable. With supervisor approval, experienced officers may use these courses to meet the Ohio Probation Officer Training Standards requirement of 20 hours of continuing education.

To access the courses, officers must have an account in Relias or CE Quick.
• Departments enrolling fewer than 30 staff can access Relias at a cost of $60 per person. For details on how to begin this process, visit the Probation Officer Training Program site.
• Departments enrolling 30 or more staff have two options:
1. The Department may contact Relias to discuss a contract for access to their course catalog. The Ohio Probation Officer courses will be added once a contract with Relias is in place. Up to a 30 percent discount is available if the Department chooses to join the ODRC enterprise system.
2. The Department may purchase the online courses on the CE Quick site. This site will only include the Ohio Probation Officer online courses at a cost of $104 per person.

For questions, contact Steve Galloway at steven.galloway@odrc.state.oh.us or 614.877.4345 ext. 3215.

For current Relias users, the Ohio Probation Officer Training Program is offered as a curriculum. Users may sign up for individual courses, or supervisors may assign a curriculum – all of the courses – or select courses to their staff. Click here for step-by-step directions on how to assign the curriculum.
